Ladbrokes chief executive Jim Mullen spoke of his sadness at Doncaster on Saturday that the company's sponsorship of the St Leger had come to an end.

The bookmaker has been associated with the final British Classic of the season for 12 years but that has finished as a result of the row between racing and the major betting-shop operators over their financial contribution to the sport.
