The son of Le Levanstell, described by regular partner Joe Mercer as a “cantankerous bugger”, suffered an injury that kept him off the track until the following June, when he landed an all-the-way success at Ascot from Ardross, going on to defeat the same rival at Goodwood at odds of 4-7.
The treble-treble was completed at Donny, where he again got the better of Ardross, leading from the start to score by a neck.
