There are 39 entries for this new event and when the race closed many of them had alternative engagements in the King George V Handicap, the Hampton Court Stakes, the Britannia and even the King Edward VII Stakes.
In the circumstances this looks a race best left until after declaration stage – or later.
1.50: Wolferton Stakes (Listed), 1m2f
Last year's Eclipse third Regal Reality ought to be a standout on that form in this grade. Gelded now, he could be a big player at this trip in 2020 and, unlike most of the obvious dangers, he has seemingly been targeted here as he has only this one entry. However, the Wolferton is no ordinary Listed race, as last year's winner Addeybb has gone on to underline.
