Confirmations and entries made for day four of Royal Ascot - including four supplementaries for Group 1 races

Impressive Pretty Polly Stakes winner Falakeyah headlines a list of four horses supplemented across the two Group 1s on the Friday of Royal Ascot, adding an extra layer of intrigue to a Coronation Stakes into which Kon Tiki was also added for the late entry fee of £46,000.

The pair have been installed as 100-30 and 4-1 second and third favourites respectively by Paddy Power, who make French 1,000 Guineas winner Zarigana their 5-4 favourite for the £650,000 feature.

In the expected absence of Lake Victoria, Aidan O'Brien still has four potential runners, although Bedtime Story and Merrily are set to run in Sunday's Prix de Diane Longines, leaving Exactly and January as the most likely Ballydoyle representatives.

Diane favourite Shes Perfect has also been left in by Charlie Fellowes as a precaution but is an intended runner at Chantilly, while neither the third nor the eighth from the Oaks, Desert Flower and Elwateen, appeared among the list of fillies to go forward.

Falakeyah had been due to head to France for the Diane over a mile and two and a half furlongs but suffered a hold up in her prep when scoping dirty, leading Owen Burrows and the Shadwell high command to reconsider her Group 1 target.

Angus Gold, racing manager for Shadwell, said: “Jim [Crowley] has been saying all spring ‘this filly has plenty of speed’ and she showed that when she won at Newmarket on her first start of the year.

“Once we had decided not to stretch her stamina to a mile and a half in the Oaks, the next option was the Prix de Diane. However, she did not scope clean two weeks ago, so Owen and the team gave her time and sorted it out, but the net result was the timescale proved too tight to get her back to peak fitness for the Diane, especially with the travelling over to France.

“Owen feels she is now back to where she was before the dirty scope. He’s very happy with her and together we feel the Coronation is the right race for her. Jim believes she has the pace to be competitive at a mile at that level. She’s definitely got a lot of class, and we are looking forward to Friday.”

Graffard adds to his squad in Commonwealth Cup

2,000 Guineas third Shadow Of Light – who completed the Middle Park-Dewhurst double at two – remains in contention for the Commonwealth Cup over six furlongs, having also been among the confirmations this week for Tuesday's St James's Palace Stakes.

With Guineas winner Ruling Court heading to the mile race after missing last Saturday's Derby on account of the ground, the market is firmly of the opinion that Shadow Of Light will revert to the shorter trip, and he heads 23 possibles for the race.

The potential field has been swelled by two, with Francis Graffard supplementing the Aga Khan Studs' filly Rayevka – an intention which was revealed in a stable tour of the leading French hopefuls in the Racing Post this week – while Qatar Racing and US-based Jose d'Angelo have added Shisospicy, the easy winner of a Grade 3 fillies' race over five and a half furlongs at Churchill Downs last month.

A strong Irish challenge is headed by Whistlejacket and Babouche, whose owner Juddmonte has also left Poule d'Essai runner-up Jonquil among the entries.

Wathnan and William Haggas have taken Realign out of the Commonwealth Cup, and have instead aimed the son of Blue Point – a winner by five and a half lengths at Salisbury on his most recent start – at the Palace of Holyroodhouse Handicap which closes the Friday card.

No Wathnan and only one filly from Ballydoyle among Albany entries

Signora looks set to carry the hopes of the Aidan O'Brien team in the opening race on day four, the Albany Stakes for two-year-old fillies over six furlongs.

The daughter of Frankel and Queen Mary winner Heartache was pitched straight into Group 3 company when third to Lady Iman on debut at Naas.

Venetian Sun, an impressive winner at Carlisle over 5f for Karl Burke in the colours of Tony Bloom, heads most betting lists after 22 entries were received, while among others trading in single figures, Gold Digger, Fitzella and Green Sense are all present at the six-day stage.

James Owen and the Gredley family will be hoping that their decision to swerve the Derby with Wimbledon Hawkeye, who leads 18 entries for the King Edward VII Stakes which is often referred to as the 'Ascot Derby', with Silvestre de Sousa already booked for the ride.

There are only 13 days between Epsom and the King Edward VII Stakes this year but Green Storm, Nightwalker and Tuscan Hills have been entered, having finished seventh, 12th and 16th in the Derby.
