'Hopefully he appreciates his €200 tip because he did a good job' - Asfoora camp reflect on epic day after taxi driver saves Abbaye bid

History-maker Asfoora, who with help from a Parisian Uber driver became the first Australian horse to win in France when successful in Sunday's Prix de l'Abbaye, is set to stay in training next year.
After winning at Royal Ascot last year, the Henry Dwyer-trained mare has continued her remarkable European adventures this season by winning the Nunthope and Abbaye – a double that has not been done in the same season for 32 years – and a repeat trip is on the agenda for 2026.
The groundbreaking Abbaye victory was only made possible by the driving skills of a local taxi driver, though, after he was booked for an against-the-clock special delivery service to transport Asfoora's passport from Chantilly to Longchamp.
