Daryz cruises through trial to harden as Arc favourite - but there's one rival the market is underrating

It was as straightforward as one could have hoped for Daryz in the Prix Foy and in a year when plenty of contenders are falling by the wayside, there is no doubt he is the one to beat in his bid for back-to-back wins in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Bar a minor mishap on fast ground over a distance short of his best when third at Royal Ascot, the Francis Graffard-trained four-year-old has not done much to dent his reputation with routine wins in the Prix Ganay, Prix Aga Khan IV and a smooth Foy success in which Mickael Barzalona had only to go through the motions to secure a length-and-three-quarter success over Bay City Roller.

Having enjoyed a small break since Ascot, this must have been a hugely pleasing return to action and he deservedly hardened into 9-4 favourite (from 3-1) for the Arc.
