'This is what every trainer wants' - Ellison excited by Mackem Bullet mission
He has won a Grade 1 over jumps and the most valuable Flat handicap in Europe and now Brian Ellison has his sights trained on Breeders’ Cup glory with The Mackem Bullet.
Ellison cut a relaxed figure at Churchill Downs on Tuesday morning as his £9,000 bargain buy limbered up on the dirt track ahead of her tilt at the $1 million Juvenile Fillies’ Turf on Friday.
Narrowly denied by Fairyland in both the Sky Bet Lowther Stakes and the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes, The Mackem Bullet is a 14-1 shot to deliver Ellison a breakthrough win at the highest level on the Flat. The Yorkshire handler said she has settled in well since her arrival Stateside on Friday.
