A year on from his first Galway Plate win, Gordon Elliott is on the trail of a first success in the Galway Hurdle, Ireland's richest hurdle race and an event in which he has gone close several times.

Timiyan, joint-second favourite for Thursday's race having won both his starts for the yard, heads his challenge, while Lord Scoundrel will be back to try to repeat last year's Plate win. A Toi Phil will also represent him in Wednesday's big race.
