Buveur D'Air heads all-star Aintree Hurdle line-up while six declared for Bowl
Grade 1 winners Buveur D'Air, Summerville Boy and Faugheen feature among nine runners in a top-class renewal of the Betway Aintree Hurdle on Thursday.
The three will be joined by Ch'tibello, Melon, Silver Streak, Supasundae and Verdana Blue in the 2m4f contest – although Apple's Jade, Samcro and Benie Des Dieux were not declared.
Nicky Henderson's dual Champion Hurdle winner heads the betting, with bookmakers installing him a 11-10 shot to bounce back from his fall at Cheltenham last time out. The eight-year-old won the Aintree Hurdle in 2017 but missed the Grade 1 a year ago. The 11-year-old Faugheen will make his first visit to Aintree, while Summerville Boy has his first start since December.
The Betway Bowl features six runners, with Clan Des Obeaux, Kemboy and Bristol De Mai standing their ground. Bristol De Mai was second to Might Bite in the race last season with Clan Des Obeaux back in third, but Paul Nicholls' King George winner is a general 5-2 favourite this year with Bristol De Mai at 3-1.
Kemboy, who fell at the first in the Gold Cup, is a 3-1 shot for the Mullins team. Gigginstown pair Balko Des Flos and Road To Respect and Welsh National winner Elegant Escape are also in the line-up.
