'It's only a matter of time before he picks up a nice pot' - eight beaten Glorious Goodwood horses who it can pay to follow

After five memorable days on the Downs at Glorious Goodwood our reporters pick their horses to follow next time . . .
Amazing Journey
By Maddy Playle, reporter
Amazing Journey was unlucky not to win having been caught behind horses with nowhere to go on several occasions before storming home once in the clear to finish fifth. He had previously won at Chepstow before following up in a decent race at York in the style of a progressive juvenile. Another valuable nursery should be comfortably within his grasp. He has now proved he handles testing conditions and looks sure to stay a mile, too, with both factors opening more doors for him.

Bedtime Story
Fourth, Nassau Stakes, Thursday
By Scott Burton, France correspondent
There are throw-out performances and then there is what happened to Bedtime Story in the Nassau, where a combination of lashing rain turning the ground heavy, a weather delay and a flag start meant she had little more than an exercise gallop. It's worth bearing in mind that she started favourite for the Moyglare last September and the way she flashed home in the Diane from an impossible position showed there's still plenty of talent when things fall right.
Calla Lagoon
Seventh, 1m2f handicap, Thursday
By Jack Haynes, reporter
Shaped encouragingly on his first start in almost three months on his handicap debut, having finished fourth in the Dee Stakes at Chester in May. Showed his best form on soft ground at the back end of his juvenile campaign and looks on a competitive mark for Juddmonte and Ralph Beckett when those conditions prevail in the autumn.
Golden Brown
By David Toft, race analyst
Ed Walker had his son of Galileo Gold gelded before this handicap debut, and he ended up as one of a couple in the race who got stuck in traffic with nowhere to go for much of the home straight. He is capable of winning as a juvenile.

Knights Gold
Third, mile handicap, Thursday
By Richard Russell, race analyst
Continues to make good strides and he was unlucky not to complete the hat-trick, his run being blocked for much of the straight while his rider dropped her stick (or may have had it knocked out of her hand) too. He also had to answer a question on this ground, but the response was positive, and he'll be of interest next time.
Montpellier
By James Hill, tipster
James Ferguson’s gelding got well and truly 'Goodwooded' on Saturday. Given a virtually impossible task from stall 19, he had to make up loads of ground from the rear. Tom Marquand managed to do that, but as soon as they got to the leaders, they duly met traffic problems. Nevertheless, Montpellier still ran on to make the frame and would have finished a lot closer given a fairer crack.

Real Gain
Third, Coral Golden Mile, Friday
By Lewis Porteous, reporter
As far as comeback runs go, Real Gain's third-placed effort in Friday's Golden Mile was about as good as it gets without winning. He had been off the track since the same meeting last year, yet ran a race full of promise to be beaten only two lengths in what is traditionally one of the most competitive handicaps of the season. The lack of a recent run perhaps caught him out late on and he should strip fitter next time out.
Redorange
By Harry March, race analyst
Had been unlucky with the draw at Ascot on his previous two starts, including when third behind the runner-up in the Palace of Holyroodhouse. He was drawn in the right place this time, but had to switch for a run against the rail approaching the final furlong and he got going too late. It's surely only a matter of time before he picks up a nice pot.
