Friday's Glorious Goodwood runners who will thrive on softer ground

Goodwood was hit with a deluge of rain yesterday, which has turned conditions softer for Friday's card. Here, we identify four runners who will be favoured by the ground . . .
Aggagio
Race: 2m4½f Coral Goodwood Handicap (1.20)
Having experience at the course and on softer ground could prove crucial on Friday and Aggagio has both.
The Gary and Josh Moore-trained stayer is a five-time winner at Goodwood, and four of those victories have come on soft ground.
Ashley Lewis, who has partnered the seven-year-old on his last three runs, can make use of his 7lb claim once again on Aggagio.
Tribal Chief
Race: Coral Golden Mile (2.30)
Tribal Chief is a four-time winner over a mile and ease in the ground suits him well.
He got off the mark for the first time after being gelded on good ground at Nottingham, before his next win came on the all-weather on standard to slow. He then struck again at Epsom in the mud on heavy going then his most recent victory came on soft ground at Yarmouth last October.
David Menuisier’s four-year-old is yet to race at Goodwood, but his versatility stands him in good stead.
Liberty Lane
Race: 1m1f conditions stakes (3.45)

Three of his five wins have come on soft ground, and he’s unbeaten at Goodwood, having scored on his only visit on good ground in May.
That win was in Listed company and came over 1m2f, so he drops maginally in trip to 1m1f for this conditions race.
Clifford Lee maintains the partnership and has been aboard for all of his wins.
Ride The Thunder
Race: 1m3f handicap (4.55)
There is limited soft-ground experience in the final race but Ride The Thunder brings some experience on that score, having produced a creditable second on soft ground at York last year. That run followed two runner-up efforts and he got off the mark at Nottingham on his reappearance in June.
His sire, Night Of Thunder, was unbeaten in two starts on soft ground and also won on one of his two visits to Goodwood.
Ride The Thunder was fourth at Ascot on his latest start over 1m2f, staying on strongly through the line, suggesting the extra furlong at Goodwood could play to his strengths.
He is trained by Roger Varian and will be ridden by Silvestre de Sousa, a combination that struck on Tuesday with Protest.
