At 9.00 on Saturday morning life in the heart of Epsom is beginning much as it is in any other town centre around Britain.

Early-bird shoppers are getting weekly supplies, there is a steady stream of men having a trim at the barber's, and the ubiquitous Costa Coffee is already selling more than its share of lattes.

But on the first Saturday in June, Epsom town centre should be far more than an outlet for a short back and sides and a cappuccino.
