Philip Robinson was regarded as one of the most astute horsemen of his generation. He won the Chester Cup in successive years on Anak Pekan, on the second occasion in 2005 overcoming the supposed nightmare draw from stall 15 in a field of 17. Here he provides his expert view on how to ride the race.

I always think you need a horse with a bit of early speed so you can get a nice position as early as possible in the Chester Cup as you are always on the turn.
