Donald McCain could have another top dual-purpose performer on his hands in Alsakib, who is in line for a crack at next month's Ladbrokes Chester Cup following two recent wins over hurdles.

McCain won the May meeting centrepiece two years in a row with similar types in Overturn (2011) and Ile De Re (2012) and has always had Flat and jumps in mind since acquiring Alsakib in October.

Rated 108 on the Flat, the six-year-old won the Group 3 Silver Cup at York in 2024, and on his last start for Andrew Balding finished sixth in the Prix du Cadran just before going to the sales, where he was bought for 100,000gns.
