Witnessing two well-fancied, highly regarded and costly purchases draw clear in a good Kempton handicap hurdle, with the notion the race will work out well, is highly satisfying for punters.

If they represent top connections and are unexposed for their age you could be easily forgiven for thinking they could be a couple of Graded horses in handicap company.

Those factors applied to the Betway Handicap Hurdle at Kempton on Saturday, when the Nicky Henderson-trained Downtown Getaway fended off second favourite Palmers Hill after an almighty tussle.
