The final verdict on Constitution Hill: we asked eight top judges what's going to happen in the Champion Hurdle

Does he win by ten lengths or can you take him on?

The Champion Hurdle is an unusual race in that it has attracted three bonafide superstars and yet still revolves entirely around one horse, Constitution Hill. That is because he is one of the greatest hurdlers of all time. And yet, he has not produced a performance close to that level for two years now since winning this race in 2023.

We asked eight top judges three simple questions to find out what might happen come 4pm on Tuesday . . .

Does he win?

Paddy Brennan: No, I don't think he does.

Lizzie Kelly: Yes – he's the best horse in the race and I can't see him being beaten.

Nick Luck: Yes, he does.

Adele Mulrennan Yes, he wins, absolutely no doubt about it.

Olly Murphy: Yes.

Paul Nicholls: Yes.

Davy Russell: Constitution Hill is an unbelievable horse, one of the best we've seen, and my gut is telling me that he's going to win it again.

Dan Skelton: I think so, yeah.

Well. Are you the best hurdler of all time?: Nico de Boinville could be asking Constitution Hill

If so, by how far?

Paddy Brennan: I'm sticking to my guns and saying he won't win.

Lizzie Kelly: He'll win by a few lengths but no more than that given the quality of the opposition.

Nick Luck: I think he'll win by north of five lengths.

Adele Mulrennan I can see him winning by at least five lengths.

Olly Murphy: I think he'll win decisively.

Paul Nicholls: I don't know – I'm not sure they will be worried about how far provided he wins.

Davy Russell: If he wins I'm not sure it'll necessarily be by far. Brighterdaysahead is some opponent and I'd say it's going to be some race. Make sure you stop whatever you're doing at 4pm on Tuesday. It could be one for the ages.

Dan Skelton: I don't know. I think if he wins he could be quite commanding.

Can you take him on at the price?

Paddy Brennan: I think you have to, with Brighterdaysahead. She's the one coming up, she's improving all the time. Whereas he's staying at a level. I hope I'm right.

Lizzie Kelly: Brighterdaysahead deserves respect but I don't think you can oppose Constitution Hill.

Nick Luck: He looks likely to be sent off at a good price as things stand.

Adele Mulrennan: I absolutely won't be taking him on and will enjoy every moment of his victory.

Olly Murphy: I think if he turns up in the same form he was in at Christmas I think he'll win and if he does what he did two years ago he'll win very well.

Paul Nicholls: Brighterdaysahead looks like the only who could get close given she's getting 7lb, which is a big thing, and is an improving mare.

Davy Russell: Absolutely. Brighterdaysahead can stop him. Of course she can. She's a mighty mare and she's going into Tuesday on a real upward curve, but will she beat him? Can you be sure she'll beat him? You can't.

Dan Skelton: I think the only one who can get anywhere near him is Brighterdaysahead.
