Nicky Henderson will work backwards from next year's Gold Cup with an older and wiser Jango Baie after he gallantly chased home Gaelic Warrior.

Last season's Arkle winner, who at seven was the youngest in the field, finished eight lengths behind the winner, despite an error at the third-last. After finishing a close-up fourth in the King George, there were concerns about his stamina but he stayed on strongly up the hill under Nico de Boinville.

"He's run a great race and you have to remember he's only seven," said Henderson. "He's the baby in the field and that was a great performance. He stayed on and finished the race well. It didn't look like they went that strong a pace but the other horse was always travelling too well for us."
