Footpad groom has extra reason to celebrate after picking up cash prize
The Willie Mullins yard will have extra reason to celebrate Footpad’s win in Tuesday’s Racing Post Arkle Chase after picking up an additional prize of £2,000.
As a recipient of the Racing Post Arkle Scheme, now in its second year, half the cash prize was awarded to Qasim Raza, the groom responsible for the horse, with the rest going to the yard.
The groom also took home a special Racing Post subscription, a brand new iPad, £300-worth of clothing from PC Racewear and a £300 voucher with which to treat himself at Spabreaks.com.
Racing Post editor Bruce Millington said: “We never fail to be inspired by the stable staff who play such a crucial role behind the scenes in racing and are delighted that, through the Racing Post Arkle Scheme, we can recognise the hard work and dedication of Qasim Raza and the rest of the Willie Mullins' team behind yet another superb winner of today’s race in Footpad.
“We extend our grateful thanks to PC Racewear and Spabreaks.com for generously supporting the initiative and hope Qasim will enjoy his prize package.”
