Cheltenham Festival-winning owner Ged Mason is backing Dan Skelton to produce L'Eau Du Sud at the peak of his powers when the Grade 1-winning chaser bids to get the better of last year's winner Marine Nationale and hot favourite Majborough in the BetMGM Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Connections of this season's impressive Shloer Chase winner are confident their eight-year-old is at his best when fresh and are looking forward to putting that theory to the test in the feature race on day two of the festival, his first run for more than three months. 

After slamming Jonbon by 15 lengths when winning the Shloer in November, L'Eau Du Sud failed to reproduce that form when finishing a well-beaten third in the following month's Tingle Creek Chase, since when Skelton has been meticulously planning for the Champion Chase on Wednesday week.
