Cheltenham Festival Day 3 Races
The third day of the Cheltenham Festival centres around the Stayers' Hurdle and Ryanair Chase. Last year's winners, Paisley Park and Frodon, return to defend their titles on a high-class day of racing. Superstars Faugheen and Samcro clash in the Marsh Novices' Chase, which opens the seven-race card, while the Pertemps Final and Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate are two of the most hotly contested handicaps of the week.
Cheltenham Festival Day 3 Tips
Our experts pick their selections for each race on day three of the Cheltenham Festival to help you find more winners.
- The remarkable 12-year-old Faugheen is respected but preference is for Itchy Feet, who impressed in a Grade 1 at Sandown last time.
Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (2.10) -
- Jonjo O'Neill has won this four times and his Dream Berry could be a lively one at inflated odds. The Storyteller is next best.
- Frodon is sure to put up a bold defence of his crown but A Plus Tard is improving at a rate of knots and looks the one to be with.
- The likeable Paisley Park can retain his Stayers' Hurdle crown. Summerville Boy may be the one for the forecast.
Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate Handicap Chase (4.10) -
- This may go to Blazer, who ran very well on only his second start back from a significant layoff last time.
Daylesford Mares' Novices' Hurdle (4.50) -
- Last year's runner-up Concertistsa has a good chance on ratings and is taken to go one better. Minella Melody is feared most.
Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Amateur Riders' Handicap Chase (5.30) -
- He won by four lengths when 50-1 at Ascot in November and should not be underrated here. Fitzhenry is second choice.
