Jack Kennedy has yet to complete two full seasons riding under rules. But, given half a chance, every taxi driver in town will tell you that – along with Russell, Walsh and Cooper – his is a name to follow at this year’s Cheltenham Festival.

Gordon Elliott is of a similar mind, but even he is surprised about the speed of Kennedy’s ascendency.

“For 17, what he’s done so far is amazing really," the trainer says. "If you told me a year and a half ago that he would achieve all he has done I would probably have laughed in your face.
