Henry Candy is pinning his Qipco British Champions Sprint hopes on last year’s runner-up Twilight Son after pulling out ante-post favourite Limato at the 48-hour declaration stage following overnight rain.

It was only on Monday that Candy had confirmed his July Cup and Prix de la Foret winner an intended runner for Saturday’s £600,000 Group 1, but he warned at the time that the four-year-old would only run if it was good ground and a further 2mm of overnight rain, following 1.5mm on Wednesday, was enough to deter him.
