Fortunately for all those connected to her, on Saturday she wanted to produce an exhilarating, revelatory performance that was worthy of an afternoon of champions and redefined her as one of the very best of her sex.

Twelve months ago George Strawbridge's homebred filly - Gosden's first Group 1 winner since Golden Horn captured last year's Arc - finished a fine second on this stage and in the same race a year on dominated with a genuinely dazzling display under Frankie Dettori.
