Top sprinter She’s Quality has died after suffering a fractured pelvis in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.

Jack Davison's four-year-old was pulled up by Colin Keane in the early stages of Saturday's race and subsequently transported to an equine hospital having shown signs of being lame behind.

There was initially some optimism around her condition when an official Breeders' Cup statement released an hour later said: "After walking onto the equine ambulance and undergoing a thorough examination at the hospital, She's Quality is back at her barn and will continue to be closely monitored."

However, her condition deteriorated and she could not be saved.

In a statement on X, her trainer said: “I am devastated to report that our stable star She’s Quality has passed away, having suffered a pelvic fracture during the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. After the race, she was transported to San Luis Rey Equine Hospital, where she received the best possible care and appeared to be stable in the initial hours after.

"However, her condition declined overnight, and the difficult decision was made to humanely euthanise her.

"We are utterly devastated at her passing. She was a high-class filly and she took us all on an amazing journey. Although this is a very sad ending, I would like to thank all of my staff for taking great care of her over the past three years. We are a small, tight-knit yard and we will miss her terribly."

The daughter of Acclamation had finished third in the Prix de l’Abbaye on her penultimate start and had consistently performed well in Group company throughout the season. She was a first runner at the Breeders' Cup for Irish trainer Davison.
