Freddy Head: the Breeders' Cup have treated me with utter disdain

Time is said to be a great healer, but it was obvious on Sunday it will take a great deal longer than 48 hours for Freddy Head to forget the professional hurt he feels at the decision of vets at Churchill Downs to scratch Breeders' Cup Mile favourite Polydream.

Head revealed that the first he knew of a problem was when he received a call from his staff at 5am on Friday, and that neither the Kentucky State vet nor any official from Breeders' Cup were prepared to hear his side of the story before Polydream was scratched for what they diagnosed as lameness in a foreleg, after they had her trotted up on concrete.

"I'm furious about what happened," said Head, who was speaking at Chantilly. "The Breeders' Cup have treated me with utter disdain. The vet refused to speak to me and refused to watch the filly training on the track.
