Festival transfers and mini game now the focus as few feel the benefit of Botox
In the lull before the festival frenzy, plenty of Tote Ten To Follow players have switched their thinking to the transfer window changes they need to bolster their teams and how they can land the Cheltenham mini game.
Two substitutions can be made during the transfer window which runs from March 7 to March 14, while the entry window for the mini game has already opened and will close at 11am on Tuesday March 15, the first day of the festival.
The mini game carries a guaranteed first prize of £10,000 but potentially significantly more if there are sufficient entries as the winner scoops 60 per cent of the total pool.
One who won’t enter Cheltenham consideration is Botox Has, who benefited from a drop in trip to claim the biggest Ten To Follow haul of the week. As the outsider in Fontwell’s National Spirit Hurdle, win and place returns totalling £26 meant Botox Has picked up 46 points and he rises to 20th in the list of the season’s top performers.
Only 0.1 per cent of stables benefited from the victory of the Gary Moore-trained six-year-old on a card where the green and white stripes of owners John and Yvonne Stone were also carried to success by Nassalam, who added 11.54 points to his tally.
At Kempton, Pic D’Orhy notched a third win of the campaign in the Pendil Novices’ Chase to earn 25.90 points, which moves him to 21st place on the list.
The rest of the points scoring came in Ireland, where Any Second Now completed a neat Grand National prep with a narrow win in the Tote Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse. That secured 21.6 points for Ted Walsh’s stable star, while Farouk D’Alene added 21.3 points at Navan and Burning Victory grabbed 17.5 points at Punchestown.
The main players on the leaderboard remain unchanged, with Shed The Frog 26 still on top spot.
