What began as a fitting tribute turned into a life-changing experience for Bruce Wymer and his wife Carron, who in just over two years have scaled the heights of jump racing thanks to their flagship chaser Ahoy Senor. Wymer tells Catherine Macrae about the whirlwind success and the armchair racing fan who inspired it all.

I was never hugely interested in racing before but enjoyed days out and went to Perth racecourse a few times. However, it was through my wife Carron that we first got into ownership.

Her father Barney had been an armchair racing fan his entire life and spent most of his time watching the sport on television. He passed away and left Carron with a small inheritance that she didn't know what to do with.
