'Wait For Me could prove very well handicapped off 139'
Our tipsters and reporters select the horses they expect will make a splash this season
Arty Campbell
Trainer: Bernard Llewellyn
Rated 83 on the Flat after winning twice over 2m this summer, Arty Campbell goes hurdling off a mark of just 107 and it will be a surprise if he isn’t at least 15lb higher by the end of the campaign. The strong-travelling six-year-old has the size to make an even better jumper, and there should be plenty of opportunities for him when the ground isn’t testing. While he undoubtedly has the class to win off his current mark over 2m, the best of Arty Campbell is unlikely to be seen until he is stepped up to 2m4f+.
Richard Birch
Timi Roli
Willie Mullins
A fascinating recruit to the Closutton ranks, this four-year-old has the 'could be anything' factor about him. He bolted up on his only start in France, and has since joined Willie Mullins under the ownership of George Creighton, most commonly associated with Hurricane Fly. I'm looking forward to seeing him make his debut over hurdles, and he could be the right type to make up into a candidate for something like the Neptune Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
Ed Quigley
Dandridge
Arthur Moore
This fast-improving chaser produced three massive runs in big handicaps at around two miles after Christmas last season, first landing a valuable prize at Doncaster before finishing second in the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham festival and the Red Rum Handicap Chase at Aintree’s National meeting. If he can continue to improve at the same rate this season he looks capable of landing a big handicap before possibly making a mark in graded company. He needs good ground so the weather may determine where he goes this winter.
