Vadeni confirms merit of Prix du Jockey Club win without blowing rivals away
Vadeni cemented his position towards the top of the three-year-old rankings with a narrow success in the Coral-Eclipse on Saturday, although he didn't take the step forward that might have been expected when tackling his elders for the first time.
A steady pace through the first half of the race contributed to a rather busy finish with just a length separating the first four at the line, but Vadeni did at least confirm the merit of his Prix du Jockey Club romp in reproducing his Racing Post Rating of 124+. He clearly retains the potential to rate higher.
The best guide to the form looks to be rank outsider Lord North who, with an RPR of 122, is rated up with his best form bar his standout performance in the 2020 Prince of Wales's Stakes. Native Trail did his bit for what is proving to be a particularly solid renewal of the 2,000 Guineas in improving slightly to an RPR of 123, and while his progress has predictably levelled off he could yet rate a little higher.
