In a dictionary of racing jargon, sandwiched somewhere between 'saddle cloth' and 'schooling' you will find a recent entry 'Saturday horse' – a vogue term used to describe a runner who regularly runs on Saturdays at big race meetings.
Saturday horses are coveted by owners, trainers wish their stables were full to brim with them, and they are followed with dedication by a broad church of fans.
For punters, the challenge is to identify horses who are going to win races and return a profit on Saturdays, and with Cheltenham staging its first big Saturday fixture of the season tomorrow, now seems an appropriate time to try to uncover some jumpers who seem strong candidates to reward their followers when running on Saturdays this season.
