Toy Town and Nailsea not the same any more – but then I'm biased

It’s hard to know what to do next.

Actually that’s not quite true because my little grandson needs some Thomas The Tank Engine trousers and Sainsbury’s are selling out fast. Leo will grow up in the ‘post-Sodor’ era, political correctness obliging Thomas to leave the island and visit Russia, where a female engine will prove just too good for him in a race. If you missed the story I can pass on the good news that the Fat Controller has survived.

This comes as a welcome relief to those of us who regret the departure of Mr Golly from Toy Town. Frankly, that made no sense at all because he was a successful, kind-hearted businessman, a garage proprietor who made a meaningful contribution to Toy Town society – more of a contribution than Big-Ears, for a start. I always had my doubts about Big-Ears but, in fairness, he’s a survivor.
