Totepool are set to start an "intensive innovation" process as part of their partnership with Ascot as they prepare for the opening up of the pool betting market from July next year.

Betfred, the owner of Totepool, lose their exclusive seven-year licence to run pool betting next year and more than 50 of Britain's courses have come together to set up their own operation.

However, Ascot announced in April it was sticking with Totepool to create AscotBet and Betfred chief commercial officer Phil Siers said last week he was delighted with that decision.
