No-one wants to finish second, but it is a safe bet when Roger Teal made his way back to Berkshire from Newmarket after Tip Two Win was denied by Saxon Warrior in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas he was not rueing one that got away.

That it took arguably the best trainer of all time and a possible Triple Crown ace to thwart by far the biggest success of Teal's career should not be lost on the likeable 50-year-old, whose move to Great Shefford, five or so miles from Lambourn, has shone a light on his talent.
