'This propelled him to top of the rankings' - Paul Curtis on the weekend action
The unfortunate absence of Emily Upjohn robbed the Juddmonte Irish Oaks of some star quality, but while the form may not be outstanding it is hard to knock the game winner Magical Lagoon, who improved again to a Racing Post Rating of 112 with another hard-fought success.
Now 2-2 over a mile and a half and with a progressive profile, the winner has probably not finished improving yet, although taking on the likes of Emily Upjohn and Tuesday would clearly provide a much tougher test than this defeat of inferior rivals.
A RPR of 112 rates at the bottom end of expectations for the Irish Oaks, although the placed form is closer to standard with runner-up Toy improving to 111. Third-placed Cairde Go Deo's Leopardstown Listed win last month has been franked and backs her improved RPR of 107 here.
