Hovering high above Bath's hilltop racecourse, a small black drone buzzed and whirred as it beamed live pictures of the horses racing below back to the nearby operator.

Police and security staff were dispatched to try to locate and deal with those responsible for the airborne menace but their mission was futile, with the group positioned on public land and not risking the running of the meeting.

The people in question were suspected of being in-running punters, shut out from being able to potentially do their trading from the racecourse property due to the stringent Covid-19 restrictions but still seeking all and any advantages they could over the rest of the market.
