Cheltenham 2020: four days of magic that produced the most unlikely poster boy

Each successive Cheltenham Festival has a hard act to follow, it almost goes without saying, but 2020 was, more than most, up against the wall.

Faced with the expectation of topping last year's 'Golden Hour', it at least had the Ryanair and Stayers' Hurdle winners Frodon and Paisley Park on its side again, but the chances of lightning striking twice are never better than flimsy and the path into the living rooms of a global audience is potholed with disinterest.

In 2019, the 'poster girl' of the meeting was Bryony Frost, a twenty-something who grabbed the attention of the mainstream media with her youthful enthusiasm, stirred the sofa-dwelling masses with her infectious glee and proved an effortless PR triumph for racing.
