'The timing of the Opening Show, which many have bemoaned, is good for me'

Seeing the horses racing is the primary objective and whoever is presenting is secondary to that, but I like Oli Bell and Ed Chamberlin. Nick Luck brought such gravitas to the coverage that it was a shame to see him leave terrestrial screens. Wouldn't it have been nice if all three could have had a role? Richard Hoiles is probably top of my commentary list, so it's good to see him on board.
I'm all for having people like Victoria Pendleton on, but they need to be deployed carefully. I much prefer to see Victoria doing feature pieces, such as yard visits, and giving a different perspective rather than talking with Mick Fitzgerald about conditions underfoot and how to ride races.
