Still the face of racing and with yet another superstar at his side
The most famous jockey in the world arrives at an upmarket London hotel in the shadow of St Paul's Cathedral ready to talk and with plenty to talk about. He may be in pain but the discomfort has been eased by a second Classic success aboard his latest four-legged superstar. For Frankie Dettori, three decades on from his first British winner, there continues to be much in the way of both fame and glory.
He is immaculately dressed in a crisp, slim-fit black suit and stylish crimson tie. These are the sartorial standards one imagines Dettori invariably maintains when in the capital, to which he has headed not only to give the umpteenth Racing Post interview of his career but also to promote the Qatar Goodwood Festival, a meeting whose sponsorship is linked closely to one of his two main employers, Sheikh Joaan Al Thani.
Dettori is a fan of those five days on the Sussex Downs but an even bigger fan of the biggest five days of all.
