For Willie Mullins 2016 has been yet another good year. An eighth consecutive Irish trainers’ championship, seven winners at the Cheltenham Festival and, in September, a notable achievement for a predominantly jumps trainer of a first Classic success with Wickow Brave in the Irish St Leger.

Currently in Australia to oversee Wicklow Brave’s bid for Emirates Melbourne Cup glory tomorrow, Mullins will return to finalise plans for the unleashing of his powerful team of big-name hurdlers and chasers.

Tradionally November is when activities at his Closutton, County Carlow, yard begins to crank up and it is sure to be the same story this year.
