Steve Currie entertained the idea of being an owner for years but could not find the perfect fit, until a trip to Newmarket changed everything. A dream debut success for the new syndicate member has ensured his love of the sport will keep him in the game for many years to come. Here he tells Catherine Macrae all about it.


I always fancied being an owner. I said to myself for years I would arrange it one day, never actually thinking it would be something I could ever really do.

As I got older and retired, I realised the time is now as the kids had all moved out. I seriously thought about getting into a syndicate, but they all were such small percentages and I wasn't sure how much of the real ownership experience you would actually get. I didn't know if it was worth it.
