Gordon Elliott has proved to be one of the biggest-spending trainers of young equine talent from the point-to-point sphere.

Of the 16 pointers from last season which were sold at public auction for £300,000 or more, six are now housed at his Cullentra Stables, as he continues to back a sport with which he has long held an association.

The Meath man rode 151 pointing winners between 1995 and 2006, a total he has since bettered in his role as a trainer, and the 2013 champion trainer could now play an active role in the open lightweight division.
