There was a surreal moment over Christmas when there were a few question marks about the champion trainer after some notable defeats, arguments that were comprehensively dismissed by a mesmerising Savills Chase victory for Galopin Des Champs, and momentum has accelerated since the turn of the year.
While some of the early Cheltenham trials in Britain fell victim to the frost, the Closutton ammunition started to fire, including the hottest of the lot, Salvator Mundi at Punchestown on Sunday.
