Donnchadh Doyle helped keep his trainers’ title hopes alive with a double here. The opening leg came in the first division of the LMC Contracts – (Liam McCarthy) four-year-old maiden thanks to Silent Assistant, who made a winning debut under James Walsh in dramatic fashion.

At the final fence newcomer Punitive ran out through the inner wing when trying to challenge and Carolines Charm was still holding a fractional advantage when falling at the same fence.

In the Monbeg Syndicate silks, Silent Assistant, who held every chance at the time, avoided the mayhem and stormed clear on the flat to beat Loughrea runner-up Barrowlands.
