Pointing fixtures given green light after agreement on insurance cover

After months of uncertainty due to the lack of an underwriter for insurance policies, a full programme of point-to-point fixtures for February has been given the all-clear.

A breakthrough in talks between all interested parties resulted in the creation of a new insurance scheme, the National Hunt Steeplechase, Point-to-Point and Field Insurance Programme (NHSPFS), which will provide insurance cover for hunting activities, including point-to-pointing.

There had been fears that up to half February's fixtures would have been unable to take place, but that has been avoided thanks to the breakthrough.
