JP McManus star is worth backing for the Cheltenham Festival - but not the one who won on Saturday

The strength in depth possessed by JP McManus is simply staggering, as Ascot’s meeting on Saturday amply demonstrated.
Not only did we see two leading Grand National contenders show off their Aintree credentials in the green and gold, McManus won the Long Walk Hurdle with a horse who, in my view, wasn’t even his best Stayers’ Hurdle hope to emerge from the race.
The victorious Impose Toi and third-placed Honesty Policy are both now a best-priced 8-1 for the festival, and I feel it is the latter who holds the stronger claims.
