Doyle off the mark as Lady Avery kicks off nine-race card in style

It proved to be a red-letter day for Wexford handler Cormac Doyle as he followed in the footsteps of his brothers, Donnchadh and Sean, by saddling a four-year-old maiden winner.

Lady Avery provided him with his first success as a trainer when taking the opening division of the Walsh Whiskey Distillery four-year-old mares’ maiden.

A half-sister to Nicky Henderson’s three-time track winner Towering, the daughter of Westerner, had finished fifth on her debut at Dromahane a month earlier.
