REIGNING western champion Derek O’Connor stole the riding honours again with a double to supplement his brace at Loughanmore 24 hours earlier, as the Galway Blazers again held the honour of opening the western region.

O’Connor opened his account in the west aboard the impressive John Power-owned Moyross in the Costello Family five-year-old-geldings’ maiden.

Enda Bolger’s newcomer returned the hard-held six-length winner over the Colin Bowe-trained Lacken Bridge, with the pair a distance clear of the remainder in the six-runner contest.
