Yesterday morning I underwent surgery in Galway after breaking my left elbow when working with a horse at home on Monday.

It's a blow at such an early stage of the campaign, especially since I was sidelined for a long spell last season. Unfortunately it's an occupational risk when you're involved with young horses.

I was aboard one having only his third day riding, and he bucked me off. Normally you would probably get away with bruising, but the timing wasn't great since he threw me on to concrete. It could have been worse.
