Albert Einstein is now as big as 25-1 for the 2,000 Guineas following his eclipse in Saturday's Gladness Stakes. You could probably add a zero to that price and it still wouldn't be that attractive.

In his Racing Post stable tour, Aidan O'Brien states that he’ll give “the lads” time to consider whether he is given a chance to prove himself over a mile, but sprinting is surely a much more feasible idea – it’s also one that has served Ballydoyle well in the past with the likes of Stravinsky and Mozart.

He is now a 12-1 shot for the Commonwealth Cup and I certainly wouldn’t rule out the possibility of him still achieving great things in that division. That said, anyone considering taking those odds has just been given a stark reminder of the perils of pinning too much faith in such an unproven horse.
