There is nothing in racing quite like Frankie Dettori. We all know it and, more to the point, he certainly knows it. When those flying dismounts return, it will be as if racing never went away.
Last year was among the most remarkable of the rider's storied career. He won 19 Group/Grade 1s, three of which were Classics, sent bookmakers into a state of panic with the first four winners on Gold Cup day at Royal Ascot, and prompted suspensions and restrictions on bets over the course of the next few weeks as his popularity surged with a public that has always loved our sport's greatest showman.
